“Very interesting” is one way to describe it ;)

This guy said himself, he’s not a scientist or a dietitan..he’s just a guy. Throughout all my education learning about chemistry of the body, biochem, anatomy, biology, etc…it all comes down to excess energy absorbed (that is, through your intestines, not your mouth) vs. energy spent = weight gain. period.

Of course, it’s more complicated than that, but I’m sick of hearing that carbs are the enemy. dumb. dumb. dumb.

lol thanks for letting me share my opinion :D

  2. I hate it when people make stupid claims like that. Carbs make you fat. Fat makes you fat. Not exercising makes you fat. No. No. No. Taking in more energy than you put out is what makes you gain weight, simple as that.

It’s crap like this that fuel the fire behind eating disorders. Fail.

I did not like this article because it was basically telling you what you should and should not eat. I think the one thing that really got me was the milk part at the end. There are so many nutrients in milk, and yes you could have broccoli but milk is convenient and like me, I hate vegetables. But also some people prefer refueling in a liquid form, such as after a run, I like chocolate milk to refuel my protein levels and I refuel my carb levels with things such as a BANANA because yes it is the quickest form to restore carbs and get you going pre workout too because carbs are the most important! If you don’t have enough carbs then your muscles get broken down to use your protein as energy. So carbs are vital!!

hah, there is my 2 cents! *steps off soap box*

  4. I think it’s kind of pathetic. I won’t deny that there is merit to it, obviously I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t stop eating carbs in the first place. If people follow his ‘rules’, the will most likely get the results they are looking for. I know this because it’s exactly what I did.. If you don’t eat carbs, you have no energy, and you will start using your own reserves to get through the day… which obviously leads to weight loss. The longer you do it, the more weight you lose. The fact that eating this way long enough could kill you should be reason enough to make people believe that we aren’t meant to live without carbs.
I can’t believe he went as far to say that humans DON’T NEED carbs – because we in fact need more carbs than we do fats and proteins. A lot of what he said is completely true regarding the human body, but it doesn’t make it right.

Sorry for the rant… great topic though :)

Well it was interesting alright! I don’t know really what to think about it though. I think this guy maybe found what works for him, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to work for everybody. Everyone’s different so who’s to say what the right ‘diet’ is?

  7. nattietan says:

As the guy said, he’s not nutritionist or a specialist in food. An excess of anything isn’t ideal, but neither is an insufficiency of anything. Everything is balance is what life should be about and that includes what we eat.

I hope you’re not feeling bothered over what he’d written because I think it’s utter rubbish! We need carbs for our brain to think, we need it for energy, we need it to keep our mood up…

    Stay strong hun!

Idk so many foods have carbs… in the end it’s calories in vs. calories out!
